We understand that your reputation is crucial and that it can be compromised by a single post on social media containing false information or the release of private details.
With social media and the internet, damaging and defamatory statements can circulate and grow rapidly, unless strong and swift action is taken.
We regularly advise individuals looking to protect their reputation. We know this is an area of great sensitivity and will act quickly to protect your reputation.
What is defamation?
Defamation occurs when something is communicated that is untrue and causes, or is likely to cause, serious harm to a person’s reputation. In certain cases, it may be possible to bring legal action against the author, editor or publisher of a statement.
The right to commence proceedings is limited by, and remedies set out in, the Defamation and Malicious Publication (Scotland) Act 2021.
