About the role:

We are looking for a talented and ambitious lawyer to join our growing Corporate team based in Aberdeen.

Our Legal 500 ranked Corporate team works with entrepreneurs, shareholders, management teams, SMEs, international businesses, banks and investors and advises on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters including mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, start-ups/scale-ups, equity investments, bank funding and commercial contracts.

The candidate will be given autonomy and hands-on client-facing experience of transactions from start to finish working closely with the Partners in the Department to support our clients’ legal requirements. There is a genuine opportunity for the right candidate to play a prominent role in transactional and other work and for career advancement with the Firm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with project management of transactions and matters including collating input from professional advisers and colleagues internally
  • Assisting in drafting main transactional / complex legal documents (with partner-led guidance and supervision as appropriate)
  • Assisting in corporate transactions including undertaking / responding to due diligence enquiries and undertaking/reviewing disclosure aspects of a transaction, preparing and negotiating ancillary documents, assisting with completion meetings and completion process
  • Attending to client communications, by meeting, email, phone and video conferencing
  • Preparing reports and advice notes to clients on terms of legal documents
  • Assisting with company secretarial matters
  • Promoting the Department and the Firm through Business Development

Requirements

Qualifications

Essential

  • Bachelor of Laws – LL.B Scots Law & Diploma in Legal Practice

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • NQ – 3 years post-qualification experience in a Corporate Department

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge and experience of company law and corporate transactions
  • Commercial and business awareness
