Senior Missives Paralegal

A new and exciting role for a senior missives paralegal seeking to extend their experience in the field of residential property from conveyancing to one predominantly acting for clients on the frontline. Reporting to the resident partner, the successful candidate will not only possess a strong understanding of the conveyancing process but will have expertise in concluding missives in both sale and purchase transactions and will liaise closely with both our estate agency team and our independent financial advisers.

Strong inter personnel skills are essential given the successful candidate will be expected to meet and communicate with clients who may be buying or selling property, guiding them through the relevant process of each transaction whether that be submitting or accepting offers through to conclusion of the missives.

This is a senior missives paralegal position and will involve the autonomous use of the firms proprietary case management systems in order to draft, collate and produce the appropriate legal and financial documents before liaising with the firms centralised conveyancing hub to ensure the timely settlement of each client’s transaction.

ROLE OF DEPARTMENT

Advising and acting for clients in the legal aspects of sale and purchase transactions, remortgages and transfers of title.

JOB PURPOSE

  • Front line position working with and reporting to the resident Partner.
  • Meeting clients who are intending to purchase a property and discussing the process of the intended transaction and thereafter, submitting offers for properties on their behalf and concluding missives for the purchase, taking responsibility for the examination of the title to the purchase property and advising clients on the legal implications of any issues arising
  • Meeting clients who are intending to sell their property or whose property is coming on to the market and discussing the process of the intended transaction and thereafter, concluding missives for the sale of the clients property
  • Meeting clients and taking their instructions for transfers of titles, discharges of standard securities, remortgages and equity release transactions

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicating with clients and taking their instructions
  • Providing legal advice to clients where appropriate
  • Liaising with third parties such as other solicitors and banks
  • Drafting legal documentation
  • Concluding missives for sale and purchase transactions
  • Liaising with Centralised Conveyancing Units in relation to conveyancing transactions
  • Securing legal work and financial leads for other departments in the Firm

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Relevant qualification in Residential Conveyancing Paralegal Studies
  • Good understanding of the conveyancing process including missives.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience of the Scottish conveyancing process
  • Strong inter personnel skills and excellent communication skills with experience in holding client meetings
  • Ability to manage a high volume work load
  • High degree of self-management and initiative
  • Organisational skills
  • Experience in conveyancing including missives
  • Ability to cross sell legal and financial services

Desirable

  • Visual Files experience or experience with a Case Management system

KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Conveyancing knowledge including missives
