James is a Partner and Head of Private Client for Edinburgh at Aberdein Considine, based in the firm’s Multrees Walk office.
Since joining Aberdein Considine in 2018, James has built a reputation for being highly knowledgeable and client-focused. He advises a wide range of clients, providing tax-efficient solutions for passing wealth to future generations, both during lifetime and on death, with guidance tailored to each client’s circumstances.
James’ core practice areas include trust formation, administration and termination, succession planning, estate administration, and care fees planning for elderly and vulnerable clients. Whether handling routine matters or complex and contentious cases, he combines technical legal expertise with a practical, outcome-focused approach, helping clients understand not only the legal position but also the commercial and personal implications.
James also specialises in private wealth and succession planning, having worked on matters such as complex trust structuring and estate administration, and is adept at supporting clients through the legal and tax challenges associated with these areas.
