Consumer Law Disputes

A consumer is, by definition, a person who purchases goods and services for personal use.

We understand how frustrating it is when you have paid for goods or services that have not met your expectations.

Often, the seller or provider is unwilling to offer you an acceptable solution, and you want to know what your rights are.

The law

The Consumer Rights Act 2015 sets out the consumer’s rights and the provider or seller’s responsibilities. This is a good starting point, but it is not the whole story. Principles of contract law will also be relevant.

Often, but not always, these disputes are of a lower value. We are frequently able to resolve consumer disputes through correspondence. However, if court action is necessary, you, the consumer, will need very clear advice about the process and cost of court action.

For lower value claims, the cost of taking action may be higher than the value of your claim. We will always give you clear advice, not just about the law but also about the commercial realities of making a claim.

The dispute resolution team comprises solicitors at all levels of experience, and we can appoint your case to the right solicitor for you.

We handle a range of consumer disputes, including:

  • Consumer credit agreements
  • Hire purchase agreements
  • Double glazing
  • Car mechanic
  • Motor trade
